Trip Down Memory Lane............The Good Old Days
You may remember when every bus in the city lined up to take parade viewers back home after the Goodwill Parades.

During WWII, Walker made ammunition boxes, fuses, track jacks, powder containers and huge jacks for lifting airplanes. They received the Army-Navy "E" flag for outstanding production for the fighting forces in 1944. After the war, Walker expanded by buying manufacturing plants around the world. Mufflers and exhaust systems became part of their more popular products and in 1948, Walker introduced a line of oil filters for cars. Through mergers, Walker Manufacturing was acquired by Tenneco Inc. in 1967. Over the next few decades Walker's presence in Racine would diminish until 1995 when the Walker headquarters was closed and operations moved to Northbrook, IL.
If you are unfamiliar with our #250forthe250th series, Welcome! We, the history goblins lurking in the basement of The Racine Heritage Museum, are posting 250 bits of history showcasing Racine County's national significance throughout the 250 days leading up to America's 250th birthday. We are getting close to the finish line, so like our post and follow our page as we drag ourselves slowly toward the light at the end of this tunnel.

LAUGH FOR THE DAY...............
Bob was sitting at the table one morning, reading the paper after breakfast. He came across an article about a beautiful actress who was about to marry a football player known for his lack of IQ.
He turned to his wife and said, "I'll never understand why the biggest jerks get the most attractive wives."
She replied, "Why, thank you, Dear!"

Racine Happenings..............
Racine County is getting a troll - and we are here for it!
World-renowned artist Thomas Dambo is bringing one of his massive recycled-wood troll sculptures to Mount Pleasant, with installation planned for the second half of 2027. If you haven't seen Dambo's work before, picture a 20-foot figure built entirely from reclaimed materials, tucked into a natural setting and designed to draw people outside to explore and connect with the world around them.
His sculptures collectively attract over 4 million visitors a year across 20 countries. We love seeing our corner of Wisconsin show up on the world stage - and we can't wait to meet our troll!
