FYI..................

Trip Down Memory Lane............The Good Old Days

THE KANNENBERG BUILDING

These two old advertising trays are from the Kannenberg Saloon, which was located on the southeast corner of Douglas and High. The building is still standing, and is now a private residence. Many of us remember it as the old Valentyne's Restaurant, or maybe the Kannenberg Steakhouse.  The Bistro Bartholomew was another restaurant that was once located in this building.  These trays are still sending Christmas greetings to everyone from well over 100 years ago.   Anyone been there?

Laugh for the Day..............

A newly ordained priest, nervous about hearing confessions, finally asks an older priest to observe how he does and give some tips. After listening in on the second confession, the older priest suggested that the younger man fold his arms, maybe rub his chin with one hand while saying phrases like "I see" or "I understand" or "Yes, my child. Go on".

The young priest puts the suggestions into practice and later tells the older priest how much it has helped getting more information from his flock.

"You've done well," said the older man. "Isn't that much better than slapping your knee and yelling 'No way! What happened next?'"

Racine Happenings...........

The Racine County Economic Development Corporation (RCEDC), City of Racine, and the Downtown Racine Corporation (DRC), announced the Downtown Racine Business Attraction Loan Program, a new financing resource created to help businesses open a street-level location in downtown Racine. The program will provide qualified applicants with access to a low-interest and forgivable loan ($250,000) for eligible businesses to facilitate their new storefront opening
