Trip Down Memory Lane............The Good Old Days
This car, with the route sign of "23rd St." will end its journey at the "Case South Works" plant at 23rd St. and Mead St.
The building in the background was the Rapid Transit building that was a terminal for the interurban rail lines and bus services between Milwaukee and Kenosha.
Some years later, it was a franchise store for Firestone with auto services and appliance sales.
That entire block was purchased by the County of Racine in the 1970's for the construction of the Racine County Law Enforcement Center

Founded in 1919 in Rochester, New York, Fanny Farmer Candies grew into one of America's best-known chocolate and confectionery companies. Known for its boxed chocolates, seasonal gift assortments, and beautifully arranged candy displays, Fanny Farmer stores became a familiar sight in shopping centers across the country.
When Elmwood Plaza opened in 1957, it introduced Racine shoppers to a new style of retail experience, and Fanny Farmer became one of the specialty stores that many local residents remember fondly. Whether stopping in for a box of chocolates, a holiday gift, or simply to admire the displays, the store became a favorite destination for generations of Racine families.
Do you remember Fanny Farmer in Elmwood Plaza? What was your favorite candy, chocolate, or memory from the store?
