Father Kolb
Fr. Kolb is a native of West Bend, Wisconsin. After graduating from West Bend East High School in 2011, he attended the University of Notre Dame, where he studied Mechanical Engineering and participated in the Naval ROTC program. His decision to serve in the military was inspired in part by the service of both his father and great-grandfather.
Upon graduating from Notre Dame in May 2015 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Fr. Kolb was commissioned as a Surface Warfare Officer in the United States Navy. He was assigned to the guided-missile destroyer USS The Sullivans(DDG-68) and later completed an almost eight-month deployment to the Arabian Gulf.
His years at Notre Dame and his service in the Navy became an important part of the journey that would eventually lead him to the priesthood.
Fr. Kolb’s patron saint is St. Ignatius of Loyola, founder of the Society of Jesus and a saint known for discernment, courage, and seeking God’s presence in all things.

A new chapter for St. Catherine's High School!
What a beautiful day to celebrate the past, present, and future of St. Catherine’s High School! Today, August 25, we officially celebrated our new safe and secure entrance and administrative suite with a ribbon-cutting and tour. Alumni, students, families, staff, friends, donors, and community supporters came together to tour the new spaces, share memories, and celebrate this incredible milestone in the history of St. Cat’s.
The new safe and secure entrance reflects our continued investment in the future of Catholic education in Racine. It is through this milestone that we continue to make St. Catherine’s a safe, welcoming environment for everyone who walks through our doors.
We are deeply grateful to everyone who helped make this vision a reality. So many hands, hearts, prayers, and generous gifts brought us to this moment.
As we look toward the future, we do so with gratitude for the Angels who came before us, excitement for the Angels who walk these halls today, and hope for all of those who will call St. Catherine’s home for the years to come.
The future is bright for St. Catherine’s.

REMEMBERING KAPPUS BREAD
This bakery was famous for their bread and delicious glazed donuts. I remember driving past the bakery, which was once located on 16th St., on the west end of the Racine Industrial Plant (now, Racine Business Center), and smelling that wonderful aroma. After they closed the bakery, they still had a bread and bakery outlet there for many years. Anyone else remember driving by, and smelling the fresh-baked bread? (Kappus artifacts are located inside the "Spirit of Racine Entrepreneurs Exhibit" at the Racine Business Center

A Grave Mistake
A bagpiper was asked by a priest to play at a graveside service for an elderly homeless man. He had no family or friends, so the service was to be held at a graveyard next to a small village church. The bagpiper was not familiar with this area, he got lost and, being a proud man, didn’t ask for directions.
Finally, two hours late, he arrived to find that the priest and funeral director had already gone and the hearse was nowhere in sight. There were only the gravediggers and crew left, and they were sitting in the grass eating lunch.
The bagpiper felt very bad and apologized profusely to the men for being late. He went to the side of the grave and looked down to see the vault lid already in place. He let out a heavy sigh. Not knowing what else to do, he started to play his bagpipes.
The workers put down their lunches and began to gather around the bagpiper. He played out his heart and soul for this poor, homeless man with no family and friends. And as he played ‘Amazing Grace,’ the workers began weeping. They wept, the piper wept, they all wept together.
When the bagpiper finished, he packed up his pipes and started for his car. Though his head hung low, his heart was full. As he opened the door to his car, he heard one of the workers say with a shaky, grief-stricken voice, “I've never seen anything like that before ... and I’ve been installing septic tanks for years.
