Trip Down Memory Lane............The Good Old Days
Back in the early 1900's, these 2 buildings, shown in restored photos, occupied the southeast corner of Washington Ave. and West Blvd.
At left was Leonard Geb's confectionery and ice cream parlor on Washington Ave. and at right, on the corner of West Blvd. was the Jensen-Hansen West Racine Grocery.
In 1960, the West Racine Bank razed about 4 buildings on that corner of the block to construct their new banking facility.
The first photo is a westerly view from Washington Avenue. The corner of West Blvd. is at far right.
The second photo is a postcard scene of the West Racine Bank taken just after construction of their new bank.
