Angel Athletics

Feb 20th - Feb 26th

Girls Basketball Monday night the Lady Angels played in their last regular season home game as they faced off against Dominican. Before the game our parents and seniors were honored for all their dedication to the program. When the game finally began, Dominican proved why they are looking to make another run at state as they were able to get ahead early and control the game to defeat the Angels 61-33. Kennedee Clark led the team with 11 points, Laila Collier-White added 6 and Kaleah Conley and Ariana Green each had 5 points. In their last regular season game of the season, the Lady Angels traveled to Catholic Central on Friday night. The Angels found themselves up early, but late in the game ended up in a battle that went into overtime. Unfortunately for the Angels they couldn’t hold on as Catholic Central walked away with the 60-50 victory. Aniyah Price led the team with 12 points. Kennedee Clark and Ariana Green each had huge games as Clark scored 11 points and hauled in 20 rebounds and Green scored 10 points and had 17 rebounds. Laila Collier-White added 9 points. Boys Basketball On Tuesday evening the boys basketball team traveled to Whitefish Bay to face off against Metro Classic Conference opponent Dominican. The game started off slow for both teams as the Angels were only able to carry a 23-21 lead at halftime. In the 2nd half however the scoring picked up for both teams and the Angels were able to walkout victorious 74-63. Five Angels scored in double digits led by Elijah Wray with 17 points. Terrion Glass-Barnes had 16, Lamont Hamilton had 15, Domonic Pitts had 14 and Davion Thomas-Kumpula had 12. Friday night the Angels hosted Catholic Central for parents/senior night. The energy in the gym was electric all night long and the Angels didn’t disappoint as they took the early lead 2-0 on a Jimmy Perez bucket and didn’t look back as they defeated the Hilltoppers 87-40. Jimmy Perez ended up with 7 points on the night while Lamont Hamilton had 23, Davion Thomas-Kumpula had 19 and Domonic Pitts had 12. Friday night's victory gave the Angels the outright Metro Classic Conference title. Wrestling Saturday six St. Catherine’s/Lutheran/Catholic Central wrestlers headed to South Milwaukee to participate in sectionals for a chance to make it to Madison for the individual state tournament. Unfortunately for the wrestlers none would move on. High finishers for the day were Demacio Tujillo at 145 lbs who went 2-1 and finished 3rd as well as Elijah LaFountain at 182 lbs who went 2-2 and also finished 3rd. Boys Swim On Friday two PSC Aquatics swim members took to the Natatorium at Waukesha South for the State Meet. Even with only 2 swimmers, the team did fantastic as they were able to finish 15th out of 32 teams. Nathan Breit performed in the 100 meter backstroke and 200 freestyle as he finished 5th and 8th respectively with times of 53.61 and 1:48.52. Jack Borzynksi participated in the 200 IM and 100 butterfly where he finished 9th and 10th with times of 2:02.36 and 54.23.
