Angel Athletics

Dec 12th - Dec 17th

Girls Basketball In a Metro Classic Conference game Tuesday night the Angels girls basketball team hosted Shoreland Lutheran. The Angels found themselves up by 11 at halftime, but Shoreland Lutheran was able to cut that deficit to only 4 late in the game. The Angels however were able to hang tight and hold on for the 61-56 victory. Laila Collier-White led the team with 27 points, Arianna Green and Aniyah Price each had 8 and Kennedee Clark had 6. Arianna Green led the team with 7 rebounds.

Friday night the Angels girls basketball team hosted St. Thomas More in what would turn out to be a thrilling game, unfortunately for the Angels though the game didn’t end as they would have hoped. With the Angels holding a lead late in the 2nd half the Cavaliers would mount a comeback and take the lead on a late 3 pointer and a free throw to knock the Angels off 44-43. Laila Collier-White led the team with 17 points while Aniyah Price added 12 and Kennedee Clark 5. Clark led the team with 11 rebounds while Arianna Green had 9.

Boys Basketball Tuesday night in a Metro Classic Conference game at Shoreland Lutheran the Angels boys basketball team found themselves tested for the first time in this young season as they trailed by 3 going into halftime. Some great halftime adjustments on both offense and defense helped the Angels propel to a 57-40 victory. Domonic Pitts led the way with 18 points, Davion Thomas-Kumpula had 17 and Evan Moherek had 15. In a non-conference battle Thursday night the Angels hosted Kettle Moraine Lutheran. The game was back and forth all night long as the Angels held the lead early, but found themselves down by 2 at halftime. The 2nd half proved to be the same as the first half as both teams couldn’t pull away. With 12 seconds left Evan Moherek hit a big 3 to put the Angels up 76-73 and thats how the game would end. Moherek and Domonic Pitts led the team with 22 points while Davion Thoms-Kumpula added 19. Pitts also hauled in 11 rebounds to complete the double double on the night. Saturday night the Angels traveled to St. Thomas More to face off in a Metro Classic Conference matchup of two ranked teams. Currently Thomas More is ranked 8th in the state and the Angels are ranked 9th. On this night however, the Angels would prove to be the better team as they were able to outlast the Cavaliers and move to 5-0 with a 66-56 win. Davion Thomas-Kumpula and Domonic Pitts led the team with 21 points while Evan Moherek added 16. Pitts led the team with 8 rebounds.

Wrestling Thursday night the St. Catherine’s/Lutheran/Catholic Central wrestling team headed to Shoreland Lutheran to participate in their first dual of the year. Unfortunately the result wasn’t as hoped as Shoreland Lutheran was able to defeat the Angels 63-12. Earning victories on the night were Luis Rivera with a pin in the 2nd period and Elijah LaFountain with a pin in the 1st period. Saturday three St. Catherine’s/Lutheran/Catholic Central wrestlers traveled to Madison to participate in the annual Badger State wrestling tournament. High performances of the day included Luis Rivera who earned a pin and Elijah LaFountain who went 2-1 and finished 3rd with 2 pins.
