WRJN RADIO PROGRAM - THINGS WE DID IN THE 50S & 60S THAT WOULD FRIGHTEN US NOW
Please join us this THURSDAY morning, APRIL 30th, at approx. 7:05 am,
when Carol Gianforte and I will again be guests on the Don Rosen show (1400 on the am dial), remembering some of our pleasant memories from the 50s and 60s. This time, we'll be looking at "normal" things we once did that are considered quite dangerous today!
Let's start with cigarettes, where smoking was permitted almost everywhere, including busses, work, and many public places. And then there was all that sugar we consumed...in cereals (Sugar Corn Pops, Sugar Smacks, Sugar Crisp), bubblegum, penny candy, cotton candy, and our favorite candy bars.
We'll talk about not wearing any seat belts, and those unsafe car seats for kids. Remember skitching and hitchhiking? Anyone ride in the bed of your dad's pickup truck? All this and a lot more!
So, join us for an hour of fun, as we recall some of our favorite memories from the 50s and 60s.
(a podcast will be available for those who can't tune in at 7:00 am).

You may know some of the others..............
Today we had the joy of celebrating our incredible volunteers, and it truly reminded us just how much each of you means to our community. From leading meaningful Bible studies, to offering warm and friendly visits, building beautiful things for us, assisting with parties, art groups, and bringing comfort and smiles through pet therapy. Your kindness and dedication shine in so many ways.

Prayers for Alumni & Friends dealing with Health Issues:
Chris Gorman '77 Ankle Saga-------
1. Live with it — but it will continue to get worse, more unstable, and more painful. We don’t know the timeline how soon this will happen. It may also eliminate option 2 and 3 completely.
2. Total ankle replacement — about a 20% chance of success.
3. Total ankle fusion — about a 50–60% chance of success, very complex surgery with a long recovery.
4. Amputation — offers the best chance for improved mobility and quality of life.
We are going to go with option 1 for awhile.
